Moving IT services out of the United States
In light of recent threats from the United States of America, against their allies to the north, Canada, many folks have decided to move all of their IT infrastructure out of the USA, where possible. This post will contain where I have decided to migrate my services to, and will be updated semi-regularly.
Domains
Fullhost.ca - All of our Canadian .ca domains have been moved from PorkBun to Fullhost.ca. Support has been fantastic, the process from start to finish was very smooth and very fast. Still trying to decide what to do with the non-dot-ca domains.
Hosting
Hetzner.com - Almost of our virtual machines have been migrated to Hetzner in Germany. Previously at Digital Ocean, we decided Hetzner's offerings were well priced and the services solid. It's been close to a year and no issue. We have also migrated our NextCloud instance to Hetzner's managed cloud storage.
Fullhost.ca - For the odd Wordpress or small site we hosted for others, we have moved most of them to FullHost.ca. Support is great and the process was straight forward.
Fullhost.ca - For clients that required only email, we also chose the Fullhost email option. Setup was fast, and Fullhost offers migration help if needed.
Hetzner.com - Running our own mail-in-a-box or iRedMail server at Hetzner is a good choice. Port 25 is closed by default, and they only open this port if you ask, and after you have proven to be a good client. Typical delay appears to be around 2-3 months. The bonus is that the IPs are clean and are not caught up in RBLs like UCE PROTECT, which is a pay service to have your domain removed from their listings (scammy).
